Free Level 2 The Children and Young People's Workforce Course in Coventry. Classes run at Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber Training, full-time during the day. You need to be working with children or young people, whether paid or voluntary, to build the practical evidence the qualification requires. The course covers health and safety, safeguarding, child development, behaviour support, and care for babies and young children. It typically takes 12 months to complete.
Who this course is for
The Early Years Practitioner level 2 apprenticeship is a qualification for people working with babies, children and young people in a variety of settings including nurseries, crèches, pre-schools and schools. These awards will enable you to develop and prove your practical competence as well as build your knowledge and understanding of early years care.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. However you must be working within early years care at the appropriate level, either full-time, part-time or on a voluntary basis in order to generate the necessary evidence to prove competence. We will guide you on this.
What you will learn
You'll apply safeguarding principles to protect the welfare of children and young people.
You'll support children's health, safety, and positive behaviour in care settings.
You'll promote learning and development in the early years.
You'll develop positive relationships with children, young people, and their carers.
You'll support children's speech, language, and communication.
You'll care for the physical and nutritional needs of babies and young children.
You'll respond to illness, injury, and emergency first aid situations.
How you will learn
Learning is classroom-based, combined with evidence gathered from your workplace or voluntary placement. You'll build a portfolio demonstrating your practical competence across the units. Assessment is competence-based, so you'll need to show your skills in a real early years setting. Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber Training will guide you on how to generate the evidence you need.
What you will need to bring
The centre will provide most materials. Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber Training will confirm anything else you need before you start. You will need access to an early years setting, full-time, part-time, or voluntary, to generate the practical evidence required.
