About this course

Free Level 2 Taxi Driver Course in Kirkby. Classes run at Centre 63, full-time during the day. This is a government-funded programme that includes a guaranteed employer interview at the end. The course runs for one month. As well as the taxi driver qualification, the programme funds your taxi medical, DBS check, and taxi badge with your chosen council. To apply, you must live in the Liverpool City Region, be 19 or over, hold a full UK driving licence for at least one year, and have no more than six points on your licence.

Who this course is for

This is a Government funded SWAP programme where you will attend the course and receive an interview with an employer at the end of the programme. If you claim Universal Credit, you can apply and continue to claim benefits.

We will help you to get your taxi badge. We provide the required qualification, fund your taxi medical, taxi DBS and your badge with your council of your choice.

Entry requirements

1. Live in the Liverpool City Region 2. Be 19+ prior to the 31st August 2024 3. Be unemployed or earn less than £33,958.60 per year. 4. Have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3years. 5. Not currently a student. 6. Held a full UK driving licence for minimum of 1 year. 7. No more than 6 points on your driving licence.

  • You'll understand the licensing rules and regulations that apply to taxi and private hire work.
  • You'll learn how to keep passengers safe and provide good customer service.
  • You'll understand safeguarding and how to protect vulnerable passengers.
  • You'll learn how to handle complaints and difficult situations professionally.
  • You'll understand the rules around equality and disability access for passengers.

How you will learn

You'll study in a classroom at Centre 63 during the day. Learning is delivered through taught sessions covering the knowledge and skills required for the Highfield Level 2 Certificate. Assessment is based on the requirements of the qualification, which is knowledge-based and assessed through examination or portfolio evidence as specified by Highfield.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. Centre 63 will confirm anything else you need before you start. You will need to bring proof of your full UK driving licence and documents to support your eligibility, such as proof of address in the Liverpool City Region.
