Level 2 NVQ Activity Leadership Course in Loughborough. Classes run at Main Campus, full-time during the day, over one year. Fees may apply depending on your age and circumstances. If you're 16 to 18 years old, you may be entitled to fee remission. If you're 19 or over, fees may also be waived depending on your eligibility. The course is aimed at sport and recreation, outdoor activities, sports development, and assistant coaching. You'll gain hands-on experience coaching in local colleges, schools, and leisure centres, plus a work placement within Loughborough College's sports provision. Entry requires four GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, including English or Maths, or a Level 2 Diploma at pass level.
Who this course is for
Aimed at those wishing to pursue a career in sport and recreation, outdoors,
in sports development, or at an assistant coaching level, this
qualification provides excellent foundations for progressing directly into the
workplace.
The practical work includes coaching in local colleges and schools, as well
as at out-of school clubs and leisure centres. On top of coaching, you will
complete a work placement within Loughborough College’s sports
provision.
Entry requirements
Four GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, one being in English or
MathsOR
a BTEC/OCR Level 2 Diploma (or equivalent) at pass level.
Mature students will be considered based on their previous qualifications
and/or relevant work experience.

How you will learn

Classroom learning covers the knowledge and theory behind activity leadership, while the practical elements give you direct experience working with participants.

The centre will provide most materials. Main Campus will confirm anything else you need before you start. You should be prepared for practical outdoor and indoor coaching sessions, so appropriate sports clothing and footwear are likely to be useful.
