About this course

Free Level 2 Mental Health First Aid Course. Study online. You can work through the course at your own pace, fitting study around your existing commitments. Over 35 weeks, you'll cover mental health first aid, mental health advocacy in the workplace, and how to support people experiencing mental health difficulties. The course is open to adults aged 19 or over who are resident in England.

Who this course is for

Around 450 million people currently experience mental health problems, with recent reports suggesting that over 12 million working days were lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety in just one year.

Entry requirements

To enrol for Telford College Distance Learning you must be aged 19+ as of the 31/08/25, be a resident of England and have lived in the EU for the last three years.  You cannot be currently studying on any other course with us or another provider. For more info, please contact [email protected]

What you will learn

  • You'll identify common mental health conditions and their signs and symptoms.
  • You'll understand how to provide initial mental health first aid support to someone in distress.
  • You'll explore mental health advocacy and how to promote wellbeing in the workplace.
  • You'll learn how stigma affects people with mental health problems and how to challenge it.
  • You'll understand the impact of stress, anxiety, and depression in a work setting.
  • You'll recognise when and how to signpost someone to professional support.

How you will learn

This is a distance learning course. You study online through written materials and activities. Assessment is through written assignments or workbooks completed at home and submitted to the centre. There are no exams. Telford College Wellington will guide you through the process and confirm submission details when you enrol.
