This course will build on the content of Stage 1 and will introduce the three main models of counselling/psychotherapy namely the psychoanalytic humanistic and cognitive behavioural (CBT). Learners will be introduced to among others the psychoanalytic approaches of Freud and Winnicott Bowlby's attachment theory transactional analysis Jung's analytical psychology gestalt therapy Beck's cognitive therapy and third wave CBT. There will be opportunities to explore links and parallels between the different approaches. Entry requirements
Learners must have successfully completed Introduction to Counselling Stage 1 at Crawley College before they can enrol on the Certificate in Counselling Stage 2 course. Learners must have a good level of spoken and written English. They need sufficient mental and emotional strength and maturity and resilience to be able to participate in each session of the course which is very experiential as a lot of learning takes place through discussion and practice through role plays
