Free Level 2 Health and Care Course in Southend-on-Sea. Classes run at South Essex College Southend Campus, full-time during the day. This is a transition course designed to bridge the gap between Level 1 study and the T-Level Health qualification. Over 12 months, you'll cover communication, person-centred approaches, mental health, infection control, and the sciences underpinning healthcare. You'll also complete 38 hours of external work placement. Entry requirements include GCSE grades 3 in maths and English, and grade 2 in science. A DBS check is completed in-house when you start.

Who this course is for

This course is available for learners who are interested in the T-Level Health qualification but do not have the required grades to meet the entry criteria.

This coure will introduce you to a Health and Social qualification with a mixture of assessments. This is a transition course, so all skills and knowledge learnt will enable learners to progress on to the T Level qualification. This course is perfect if you have a passion for Health and Social Care but need to re-do your English and Maths GCSEs.

This course is perfect if you’ve completed Level 1, or you’re already at a more intermediate level and looking to develop existing Health and Social Care skills and knowledge.

Entry requirements

3 in GCSE maths, 3 in GCSE English and 2 in GCSE science (Preferably Science CORE). A introduction assessment to be undertaken at enrolment to assess suitability for the course Preferably some knowledge and skills of the Health and Social Care sector Clean DBS (DBS to be done in-house at the college when learners start)

How you will learn

You'll be assessed through a mix of internal exams, controlled assessments, and assignments. There are two internal exams, two controlled assessments, and four assignments. All are set by tutors and marked internally by qualified assessors. You'll also complete 38 hours of work placement at an external setting. An introductory assessment takes place at enrolment to confirm the course is the right fit for you.

The centre will provide most materials. South Essex College Southend Campus will confirm anything else you need before you start. You will need a clean DBS check, which the college arranges in-house when you enrol.
