Free Level 2 Hairdressing Course in Yeovil. Classes run at Yeovil College. This full-time, daytime course covers cutting, colouring, dressing hair, client consultation, and salon health and safety. You'll also complete 60 hours of work experience in a hair salon. The course runs for one year. Entry requires GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above, though grade 3 applications are considered. A practical skills assessment helps place you at the right level.
Who this course is for
The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Women's hairdressing is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in; the creative art of cutting and colouring hair and how to provide an effective consultation service for clients.Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety whilst working in the hairdressing industry.You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.The purpose of this qualification is to develop your practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own salon services.
Entry requirements
Maths and English grades 4 and above is required for this qualification. If you receive a grade 3 for either English OR Maths we will consider your application. You will be required to take part in a practical skills scan that will help us determine your starting point. This may alter the level we place you on.

You'll shampoo and condition hair and scalp correctly.
You'll consult with clients to plan and agree services.
You'll dress and style hair, including theme-based creative work.

How you will learn
You'll be assessed through practical observation, online and written exams, and online work packs. Classes are delivered in a classroom and salon setting at Yeovil College. Alongside your studies, you'll complete 60 hours of work experience in a hair salon, which must be confirmed by October half term.
