This food allergen awareness in catering qualification is a requirement for working in catering and hospitality. The course runs over 18 hours of daytime classes. You'll cover the 14 major allergens, how to handle allergen information, and your legal responsibilities when preparing and serving food. To join, you'll need to be a Kirklees resident aged 19 or over, have lived in the UK for at least three years, and hold qualifications below Level 2 or have significant barriers to learning.

Kirklees resident, aged 19+, resident in the UK for 3+years; or if you are an asylum seeker or refugee you must have been in the UK for 6 months and are yet to have a decision on your status, qualifications below level two or have significant barriers to learning.

How you will learn
You'll study in a classroom at Crosland Moor Community Learning Centre, with flexible daytime attendance across the 18-hour course. Learning is tutor-led, with group discussion and practical scenarios. Assessment is through a short written test or knowledge-based questions to confirm your understanding of allergen legislation, cross-contamination, and customer communication.
