About this course

Level 2 Entry to the Uniformed Services Course in Leeds. Classes run at Leeds City College Quarry Hill Campus, full-time during the day. It is free if you are 16 to 18 years old. If you are 19 or over, fees may apply, though a Learner Loan may be available.

The course covers public services knowledge, fitness, teamwork, and the skills needed to apply for uniformed roles. You will also study GCSE English and Maths alongside the main qualification. You need two GCSEs at grade 3 in English Language and Maths to join. The course runs for one year.

You will finish with the NCFE Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services.

Who this course is for

If you’re in year 11 and are looking to take the next steps towards your career this course is for you. This course prepares learners for the step up to the Level 3 Diploma so that you can progress to university, a police apprenticeship or a higher-level apprenticeship. All learners will also study GCSE English and/or Maths as part of your studies.

You will also sit GCSE examinations in English and Maths. There are no formal exams for the main Diploma units; your work is assessed on an ongoing basis.
