About this course

Level 2 Electrical Installation Course in Darlington. Classes run at Darlington College, full-time during the day, over 34 weeks. The course is free if you're 16 to 18 years old. If you're 19 or over, fees may apply. To join, you'll need a Level 1 Diploma in Electrical Installation, or four GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 including English and maths. You'll build the underpinning knowledge and practical skills that electrical installation work demands. The course is split equally between theory and practical learning.

Who this course is for

These qualifications are intended for those who want to gain the knowledge and abilities that will enable you to gain the underlying knowledge of electrical installation. The Level 2 qualification is designed for new entrants to the industry, providing them with the basic skills and experience they need.

If you are interested in working in the electrical installation sector, this course will provide you with the ideal platform on which to make your career choices. The course is a split 50/50 practical and theory which will allow you to learn and develop various skills relating to the electrical industry.

The Study programme will consist of multiple elements which you will need to complete:

> Qualification

> Individual and group tutorial sessions

> Industry related work placement (if appropriate)

> Development of English and mathematics. You will be required to undertake a formal qualification if you have not already achieved English and/or Maths at Level 2.

> Development of enterprise and employability skills.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a Level 1 Diploma in Electrical Installation or 4 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A-C) including English and maths.

You will be required to attend an interview at the college for the courses and we will request a school or college report.

If you have not achieved a C grade or above in English or maths, you will as part of your course be required to work towards this as part of your study programme.

How you will learn

You'll learn through a combination of classroom theory sessions and hands-on practical work at Darlington College. The course is split 50/50 between knowledge-based learning and practical application. Assessment includes written tests covering electrical theory and practical assessments where you demonstrate installation skills. If you don't yet hold a grade C or above in English or maths, you'll work towards this as part of your study programme.
