Free Level 2 Dementia Care Course. Study online, at your own pace, in your own time. This dementia care qualification covers how dementia affects people, how to communicate well with someone living with dementia, and how to support their wellbeing and dignity. The course typically takes 3 months to complete. You'll need to be aged 19 or over and live in the North Yorkshire or Tees Valley area.

Aged 19+
Reside in the North Yorkshire or Tees Valley area and have the right to live and work in the UK and lived in the UK or EU continuously for the previous three years before the start of learning.

What you will learn
You'll understand what dementia is and how different types affect the brain and behaviour.
You'll learn how to communicate effectively with people living with dementia.
You'll explore how to support the wellbeing, dignity, and independence of people with dementia.
You'll understand person-centred approaches to dementia care.
You'll recognise how dementia affects daily life, relationships, and family members.
You'll learn about the legal and ethical responsibilities involved in dementia care.
How you will learn
You'll study online and complete written assessments based on what you've learned. Assessment is through knowledge-based questions and short written tasks that you submit online. There are no exams. You work through the course at your own pace and submit work when you're ready.

The centre will provide most materials. Learning & Skills Darlington will confirm anything else you need before you start.
