About this course

Free Level 2 Counselling Skills course in Barnsley. Evening classes run at SciTech Centre, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. Over 20 weeks, you'll explore how counselling skills are used in everyday life and work, including the approaches that underpin helping interactions. No specific prior qualifications are required, though you'll need to be 19 or over and able to complete written assignments in English.

Who this course is for

This qualification aims to introduce learners to the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work, and some of the approaches that underpin the use of these skills. This qualification gives learners the opportunity to investigate the knowledge and skills needed to use counselling skills and engage in a helping interaction appropriately.

This qualification is useful for anyone who would like to develop their use of counselling skills for use in either work or a personal capacity. There may be learners who wish to progress towards further qualifications or learners who wish to study this programme in order to complement other programmes (health and social care, children’s care, learning and development, voluntary and community work).

This qualification does not qualify learners to practice as a counsellor.
