About this course

Free Level 3 Counselling Course. Study online at your own pace, fitting learning around your existing commitments. The course runs for 20 weeks and covers the knowledge and skills used in counselling practice, including supporting people through anxiety, depression, bereavement, and trauma. This free counselling course for adults is funded through the Adult Education Budget, so there is no cost to eligible learners. You'll need to meet the funding eligibility criteria, which the centre will check with you before you start.

Who this course is for

The demand for talking therapies for anxiety or depression has increased dramatically recently. Counselling is helpful at different points in peoples lives, including for their mental health, experiencing bereavement or loss, processing significant life events, or overcoming trauma. If you would like to support people to improve their well-being and gain a certificate through an online course, the Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills is a great way to gain knowledge and a qualification.

Entry requirements

To be able to compete our Level 3 courses, you must have not gained a level 3 qualification or higher after 1st April 2021.

If you have gained a level 3 or higher before the 1st of April 2021, you will need to go through our eligibility check to see if you fit the funding body's criteria.

You'll study entirely online, working through course materials at a pace that suits you. Assessment is based on written assignments and reflective tasks that you complete and submit online. There are no exams. You'll have tutor support throughout to guide your progress and give feedback on your work.
