Free Level 2 Car Mechanic Course in Worcester. Classes run full-time at Duckworth Centre for Engineering. Entry requirements
You must have a Level 1 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or related subject. Entry will be subject to a satisfactory reference and interview. You must also have obtained 3s in English and Maths, alongside two other GCSE's., , Entry decisions will be discretionary at interview. Students will continually be assessed through probation period to ensure they are on the correct level.
What you will learn
You'll apply health, safety and good housekeeping practices in an automotive workshop environment.
You'll use materials, fabrication tools and measuring devices correctly in automotive tasks.
You'll carry out routine light vehicle maintenance.
You'll work on engine mechanical, lubrication and cooling systems.
You'll service and inspect fuel, ignition, air and exhaust systems.
You'll remove and replace engine and electrical units and components.
You'll remove and replace chassis units and components.
You'll work on transmission and driveline units and components.
How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom sessions and hands-on workshop training. Assessment is by practical observation in a workshop setting, so you'll demonstrate your skills directly on vehicles. You'll be assessed continuously throughout the course, including during a probation period, to make sure you're working at the right level.
What you will need to bring
You'll need Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including overalls, safety boots and gloves. Bring classroom basics too: pens, paper and a folder. Duckworth Centre for Engineering will confirm anything else you need before you start.
