About this course

Level 2 British Sign Language Course in Eastbourne. Classes run at East Sussex College Eastbourne Campus, part-time during the day, one morning or afternoon a week over a year. The course builds on BSL Level 1 knowledge, helping you hold longer and more complex conversations across a wider range of topics and everyday situations. You'll cover real-life routines, daily experiences, and varied contexts through 150 hours of guided and independent learning. Entry is by application and interview, and places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Who this course is for

Have you completed your BSL Level 1 and would like to build on your knowledge? The British Sign Language Level 2 award is the ideal next step. This BSL course is here to help you develop your sign language communication skills so you can participate in longer, more varied conversations. Across 150 hours of guided and independent learning, you�ll develop your sign language skills to help you communicate effectively in a variety of contexts. Please also note, BSL Unit assessments are videoed and timed. This course is for 19 plus learners. If you are under 19, please contact the college for advice.To join this course, you will need to meet 'British Sign Language Competence Standards' that states you must have sufficient sight, manual dexterity, facial and body movements to produce and receive BSL. How you will learn

Classes are classroom based and run part-time during the day. BSL unit assessments are videoed and timed. Learning combines guided classroom sessions with independent study across 150 hours in total. You'll need sufficient sight, manual dexterity, and facial and body movement to produce and receive BSL, though reasonable adjustments to support participation can be discussed with the college.
