About this course

Free Level 2 Bricklaying Course. Work-based training at your workplace. This is a free bricklaying course for adults already working in the trade. You learn on the job, supported by an assessor who visits your site. The course typically takes 6 months. You'll build a portfolio of evidence showing your skills and knowledge in bricklaying. You need to be 19 or over and employed or self-employed in the industry. Areas covered include Hull, Cambridge, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Essex, Kent, and Wiltshire.

What you will learn

  • You'll demonstrate safe working practices on construction sites
  • You'll lay bricks and blocks to industry standards
  • You'll set out and construct masonry structures including walls and corners
  • You'll work with mortar mixes and understand material properties
  • You'll read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • You'll apply quality checks to your finished brickwork

How you will learn

Your assessor visits your workplace twice to observe you working and to help you gather evidence. You build a portfolio that records your skills and competence on the job. Assessment is based on workplace observation and the evidence you collect during your normal working day. There are no classroom sessions or written exams.

The centre will provide most materials. Tendean will confirm anything else you need before you start.
