Level 2 Beauty Therapy Course in Chelmsford. Classes run at Chelmsford College Princes, full-time during the day. You'll need GCSEs at grades 3 to 9 in English, Maths and Science, or a Level 1 qualification in hair or beauty to join. The course covers a wide range of treatments including manicure and pedicure, waxing, facial skincare, make-up application, and eyelash and brow treatments. You'll also study health and safety, salon reception, and anatomy and physiology. The course takes one year and includes at least 30 hours of work experience.
Who this course is for
This course has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills for the beauty industry. Successful completion will allow you to progress onto the Level 3 qualification to become a qualified beauty therapist. If you're interested in developing your skills in treatments such as eyelash and brow treatments, removing hair using waxing techniques, applying make-up, manicure, pedicure and skincare, then this course is for you. By learning specialist techniques, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate those skills by working on practical units. To ensure you understand the industry as a whole, you will develop your knowledge of health and safety practices in a salon environment, how to contribute to the effective running of a beauty business, how to carry out effective salon reception duties, and how to display retail stock to promote sales in the salon. Overall, the purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in beauty therapy to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to perform a variety of salon services.
Entry requirements
GCSEs grades 9-3 in English, Maths and Science or a Level 1 qualification in either hair or beauty

How you will learn
You'll learn through practical, hands-on sessions in a salon environment. Initially you'll practise treatments on fellow learners before working on clients in The Princes Salons. You'll also complete a minimum of 30 hours of work-related experience. Assessment covers both practical units and underpinning knowledge across all treatment areas.
