Free Level 2 Beauty Course in Welwyn Garden City. Classes run at Oaklands College Welwyn Garden City Campus two days a week, with child-friendly hours.

The course runs over 20 weeks and covers a range of general beauty treatments. You'll study skincare, make-up, waxing, and nail techniques. Assessment includes written tests, multiple choice exams, and practical work on paying clients in a commercial salon setting. You'll need a GCSE in English at grade 4 or above, or a Level 2 ESOL qualification, to join.

You'll finish with a VTCT Certificate in Beauty Specialist Techniques.

Who this course is for

This is a fast track course and enables you to achieve a level 2 Beauty qualification in a year. Successfully completing this qualification enables the Learner to provide for all general beauty treatments in a safe and effective manner. All units will have written assessments, multiple choice tests and will include practical summative assessments on paying clients covering ranges set by VTCT. This course is over 2 days per week with child friendly hours, however additional work will be set to complete at home and meeting deadlines is essential.

Entry requirements

GCSE English at Grade 4 (C) or above, or a recognised Level 2 ESOL qualification.

These entry requirements are designed to ensure learners have the English language skills needed to successfully engage with the programme, complete assessments, understand health and safety requirements, and communicate effectively with clients in a professional salon environment and complete online exams.

You'll also complete some work at home between sessions. Meeting deadlines is an important part of the course.
