About this course

Free Level 2 Awareness of Mental Health Problems Course. Study online at your own pace, fitting learning around your work and home life.

The course covers a wide range of mental health conditions, including stress, anxiety, depression, phobias, and dementia. You'll explore what each condition means, what can trigger it, and how it affects daily life. You'll also learn the language used by mental health professionals. Around 160 hours of study are involved, and you'll need at least a Level 1 English or Literacy qualification to enrol. You must be aged 19 or over as at 31 August before your course starts.

You'll finish with a Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems.

Who this course is for

The qualification develops learners' knowledge and understanding of a range of mental health issues, including general mental health, stress, anxiety, depression, phobias, dementia and other conditions which may significantly affect the mental health of a person. Learners will be given a thorough grounding in what is meant by mental health terminology, possible causes and triggers of each condition, how each condition can affect the lives of the people living with them, and how conditions may be managed. This qualification is designed to develop knowledge and skills in this subject area. This qualification can be used to update and continue your professional development, (CPD), and to develop knowledge/skills relevant to the occupational specialisation. It is suitable for anyone who works, or is hoping to gain employment, in this field.

Entry requirements

You will need to be aged be 19+ as at 31st August prior to the start of the current academic year. You will also need to have at least a Level 1 qualification in English/Literacy or equivalent. To assist in completion of this qualification, it may help to be working in, or have access to, the chosen sector. If you already have a higher-level qualification in this specialism, it may impact on your eligibility.
