About this course

Level 1 Health and Social Care For Children and Young People Course in Cambridge. Classes run at Cambridge Regional College, full-time during the day. This health and social care for children and young people qualification takes one year to complete. You'll study topics including safeguarding awareness, communication, equality and inclusion, and health and safety. Units also cover the roles and values that underpin work in health, social care, and childcare settings. Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved 2 GCSEs at grade 2 (E) or above.

Once at the college you will have to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check. It is not possible to complete the course without satisfactory clearance. It is also a requirement that students on this course are independent workers within the placement settings.

How you will learn

You'll study in a classroom at Cambridge Regional College, attending full-time during the day. Learning is unit-based, covering both theory and practical knowledge across the six subject areas. The course includes placement activity in care or childcare settings, where you'll be expected to work independently. Assessment is through the units you complete over the year.

The centre will provide most materials. Cambridge Regional College will confirm anything else you need before you start. You will need to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before beginning placement activity.
