About this course

Level 1 Engineering Course in Braintree. Classes run at Adult Skills Centre Braintree, full-time during the day. It is free if you are 16 to 18 years old. If you are 19 or over, fees may apply.

The course runs for around nine months and covers a broad range of engineering and manufacturing skills. You will work with sheet metals, practise MIG and TIG welding, use CAD software, and learn fitting and machining techniques. Units also cover health and safety and how to communicate technical information. English, maths, and employability skills are built in throughout.

You will finish with a City and Guilds Certificate in Engineering at Level 1.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs (9-1), including English and Maths, or Level 1 Functional Skills equivalent, and an interview.
