About this course

Level 1 Employability Skills Course in Birmingham. Classes run at Longbridge Campus, full-time during the day. Fees vary depending on your circumstances, so it may be free for some learners and fees may apply for others.

The course builds the skills employers look for. You'll cover communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and how to present yourself in a job search. The course runs over one year. There are no formal entry requirements.

You'll finish with a City and Guilds Introductory Award in Employability Skills.

Who this course is for

The Level 2 Mechanical Engineering programme provides you with a broad engineering education that covers a wide range of mechanical engineering subjects. This unique programme is designed to support you in achieving a Level 2 qualification in engineering by embedding a Skills Development and Employability programme into your course. From day one we'll begin preparing you, not just with the technical knowledge required by the industry, but also with the additional skills employers expect from their employees. You will experience an interactive way of learning. Practical and experimental classes offer you hands-on experience to complement your course's more theoretical modules, while innovative design-build-test projects replace the more traditional lesson and workshop sessions.

Entry requirements

Whilst there are no formal entry criteria, engineering is a technical subject with both theory and practical elements to the courses we offer. Therefore some working knowledge of basic maths is desired.

You will be required to attend and work towards English and/or maths Grade 4 as part of your study programme.

All students will also be required to attend and satisfactorily complete a formal induction period

You'll study in a classroom at Longbridge Campus. Learning is a mix of group activities, discussions, and practical tasks. You'll complete assignments and tasks that are assessed throughout the course. There are no formal exams.
