About this course

Level 1 Employability Skills Course in Birmingham. Classes run at Longbridge Campus, full-time during the day. Fees vary depending on your circumstances, so it may be free for some learners and fees may apply for others.

The course builds the skills employers look for. You'll cover communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and how to present yourself in a job search. The course runs over one year. There are no formal entry requirements.

You'll finish with a City and Guilds Introductory Award in Employability Skills.

Who this course is for

Are you a recent school leaver or an adult looking to train to become a qualified motor vehicle technician/ mechanic? This one-year Level 2 course will develop your skills and understanding of the modern light vehicle. After completing this course, you will naturally progress to the Level 3 Diploma which will advance your understanding, skills and knowledge to increase your career prospects. If you are 16-18, you will continue to build your skills in English and maths.

Entry requirements

Due to advances in technology within the automotive industry, it is important to recognise the complexity of the modern motor vehicle. With this qualification, we are looking for a learner that can demonstrate good mechanical comprehension, mechanical ability, and the willingness to learn. A good, basic understanding of the technology involved in the modern light vehicle is ideal. Have completed and passed your level 1 diploma.
