Free Level 1 Construction Skills Course in Willenhall. Classes run at Nova Training Willenhall (head Office). Who this course is for

This qualification will provide you the ideal introduction to the construction industry and cover essential skills in the following construction trades: bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering, painting and decorating, construction operations, wall and floor tiling and plumbing.

Entry requirements

Must be aged 16 to 18 and wanting an introduction to the variety of construction trades, to gain skills in those areas and perhaps to decide which trade is the right one to pursue a career in. No previous knowledge or experience is required.

  • You'll develop practical skills in bricklaying, including laying and bonding techniques.
  • You'll work with timber in carpentry and joinery tasks.
  • You'll apply plaster to walls and ceilings in plastering exercises.
  • You'll use brushes, rollers, and preparation techniques in painting and decorating.
  • You'll carry out construction operations tasks covering site-based working practices.
  • You'll cut and fix tiles in wall and floor tiling work.
  • You'll handle basic plumbing tasks and understand pipework fundamentals.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom-based sessions and practical, hands-on trade activities. Assessment is carried out through practical tasks and observations across each of the seven trade areas. You'll be assessed on your ability to carry out the skills covered in each trade, demonstrating what you've learned in a real working context.
