About this course

Free Level 1 Art and Design Course in Bradford. Classes run at Bradford College David Hockney Building, full-time during the day.

The course runs for one academic year. You'll explore materials, processes and skills across art, design and media. Units cover contextual research, communication skills, and solving creative problems in 2D, 3D and time-based media. The course ends with a personal project where you develop your own ideas. You'll need GCSE English and Maths at grade 1 or above to apply, along with a selection of creative work.

You'll finish with a University of the Arts London Diploma in Art, Design and Media.

Who this course is for

This introductory qualification is designed for learners who may be ready to progress quickly to further study, the Award offers a basic introduction to the principles of art and provides learners with the opportunity to develop generic, transferable and sector-specific skills related to the creative industries in order for them to progress to further learning. We also offer an optional two night residential in the Lake District where you can participate in the outdoor pursuits, such as hill walking, open canoeing and ghyll scrambling or the arts, such as botanical drawing, landscape photography and mindfulness in nature.
