About this course

Level 1 Art and Design Course in Witney. Classes run at Abingdon & Witney College Witney Campus, full-time in the evenings. If you're 19 or over, fees may apply. Younger learners may be eligible for a free place.

The course lets you explore the course, media, and games development before you choose a specialism. You'll also get dedicated sessions in music. It's an introductory art and design qualification, so you can try different creative areas and find where your strengths lie. You'll need GCSE English and Maths at grade 2 or above, or Level 1 Functional Skills in both subjects.

You'll finish with a University of the Arts London Diploma in Art, Design and Media.

Who this course is for

Our Creative Industries Level 1 (UAL Level 1 Diploma in Art Design & Media) course will help you to discover your potential and open your eyes to the possibilities within the creative field. The introductory course will enable you to explore elements of Art & Design Media and Games Development before you make a choice as to what you wish to specialise in for Level 2 and beyond. For those of you with a real interest in Music we will also organise specific sessions where you can explore and develop your music skills to support you to prepare for progression onto Music level 2.

Entry requirements

English & Maths GCSE at grade 2 or Level 1 Functional Skills in both subjects. You must also have a clear interest in one or more of the creative fields on the course.

How you will learn

You'll learn through studio-based practical work and creative projects. Classes are delivered in the evenings at the Witney Campus. Assessment is through a portfolio of work and project-based tasks rather than written exams. You'll receive feedback from tutors as you develop your creative practice across the different subject areas.
