Free Functional Skills Maths Level 1 in Scarborough. Classes run at Scarborough Adult Learning and Skills Service, with daytime sessions that fit around other commitments. This level 1 functional skills maths course runs over 18 weeks part-time, covering the everyday maths skills that employers and colleges look for. It sits one step below Functional Skills Level 2, which is the recognised GCSE maths alternative accepted by most employers. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm this is the right level for you.

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact
What you will learn
You'll work with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages in practical contexts.
You'll interpret and use data from tables, charts, and graphs.
You'll solve problems involving money, time, and measurement.
You'll use ratio and proportion in everyday situations.
You'll check and communicate mathematical results clearly.
How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom-based sessions with a tutor. Assessment is by a formal written exam set and marked by City and Guilds. You'll practise exam-style questions throughout the course to build familiarity with the format before you sit the test.
