Free Functional Skills Maths Level 1 Course in Widnes. Classes run at Ashley School 6th Form, full-time during the day. This level 1 functional skills maths qualification is a recognised gcse maths alternative, accepted by employers and colleges across the UK. No prior maths knowledge is required before you start. You'll have an initial assessment so the centre can plan your learning at the right level. The course runs over two years.

Entry requirements
No prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications are required before learners register for this qualification. However, centres must follow the guidance given in the Pearson document A guide to recruiting with integrity and enrolling learners onto qualifications (see Section 8 Access and recruitment for more information).
What you will learn
You'll work with whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages in everyday contexts.
You'll read, interpret and draw information from charts, graphs and tables.
You'll use measures, shapes and space to solve practical problems.
You'll apply maths to real situations such as budgeting, measuring and comparing quantities.
You'll check your own calculations and identify errors.
You'll use a calculator and written methods to solve problems accurately.
How you will learn
You'll study in a classroom at Ashley School 6th Form, working through topics with a tutor and practising skills through exercises and problem-solving tasks. Assessment is by a written exam set and marked by Pearson Edexcel. You'll sit the exam when your tutor confirms you're ready. There is no coursework component for this qualification.
