Free Functional Skills Maths Level 1 in Northallerton. Classes run at Richmond Adult Learning and Skills Service, part-time during the day over 18 weeks. To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact
What you will learn
You'll work with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages in everyday contexts.
You'll use basic measures including length, weight, capacity, and time.
You'll read and interpret simple charts, tables, and graphs.
You'll solve practical maths problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
You'll handle money calculations and understand simple budgeting.
You'll identify and describe basic shapes and use straightforward spatial reasoning.
How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom-based sessions with a tutor. Learning is practical and applied to real-life situations. Assessment is by a written external exam set and marked by City and Guilds. You must pass the exam to earn the qualification. There is no coursework or portfolio element at this level.
