About this course

Free Functional Skills Maths Level 1 in Catterick Garrison. Evening maths classes run at Catterick Library & Information Centre, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

  • You'll interpret and compare data from tables, charts, and graphs.
  • You'll work with measurements including length, weight, capacity, and time.
  • You'll solve problems involving money and financial calculations.
  • You'll understand and use simple formulas and ratios.
  • You'll check your own calculations and identify errors.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom at Catterick Library & Information Centre, with a tutor guiding sessions each week. Assessment is by a written external exam set by City and Guilds. You'll also complete an on-screen or paper-based test covering the skills taught on the course. Your tutor will use the initial assessment to plan your learning from the start.
