About this course

Free Functional Skills Maths Level 1 in Worthing. Classes run at Asphaleia, with daytime sessions across the week. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm Level 1 is the right starting point, and the centre will use it to plan your learning. The course covers number, measure, and data handling at a practical level, building the maths skills employers and colleges look for. It typically takes 9 months. Who this course is for

On Track to Work is an education programme for 16-18 year olds wishing to prepare for next steps into further study or work. It could be for you if you are not at college and don't yet have 5 GCSEs at level 4+. You will need to be able to attend at least 3 days per week.

Asphaleia is a unique training provider with a big emphasis on supporting young people to achieve their potential in a safe and supportive environment. We have a dedicated training centre in central Worthing. On Track to Work has been graded GOOD by Ofsted.

This course is for you if you want to gain recognised qualifications in English, maths and employability, as well as careers guidance and workplace experience. You will develop essential skills for employment, including confidence building, problem-solving, collaboration and communication.

The programme runs from September to July every year, with opportunities to start throughout the year.

What you will learn

How you will learn

You'll study in a classroom at Asphaleia, attending daytime sessions. Learning is flexible, so the pace can be adjusted to suit you. Assessment is through a written exam set by NCFE. There is also an on-screen test option depending on the centre's arrangements. Your tutor will prepare you with practice tasks and worked examples before you sit the assessment.
