Free Functional Skills English Level 1 in Worthing. Daytime classes run at Asphaleia, a dedicated training centre in central Worthing. Who this course is for

On Track to Work is an education programme for 16-18 year olds wishing to prepare for next steps into further study or work. It could be for you if you are not at college and don't yet have 5 GCSEs at level 4+. You will need to be able to attend at least 3 days per week.

Asphaleia is a unique training provider with a big emphasis on supporting young people to achieve their potential in a safe and supportive environment. We have a dedicated training centre in central Worthing. On Track to Work has been graded GOOD by Ofsted.

This course is for you if you want to gain recognised qualifications in English, maths and employability, as well as careers guidance and workplace experience. You will develop essential skills for employment, including confidence building, problem-solving, collaboration and communication.

The programme runs from September to July every year, with opportunities to start throughout the year.

What you will learn

How you will learn

You'll study in a classroom at the centre with tutor-led sessions. Assessment is through set tasks covering reading, writing, and speaking and listening. These are externally assessed. You'll complete a reading test, a writing test, and a speaking and listening assessment. No prior qualifications are needed to join; you just need to be willing to attend and take part.
