Free Functional Skills English Level 1 Course in Widnes. Classes run at Ashley School 6th Form, full-time during the day. No prior qualifications are needed to enrol. You'll have an initial assessment so the centre can plan your learning at the right level. This level 1 functional skills english course covers reading, writing, and speaking and listening skills used in everyday life and work. It is a recognised gcse english alternative accepted by many employers and colleges. The course runs over two years.

Entry requirements
No prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications are required before learners register for this qualification. However, centres must follow the guidance given in the Pearson document A guide to recruiting with integrity and enrolling learners onto qualifications (see Section 8 Access and recruitment for more information).
What you will learn
You'll read and understand different types of texts, including letters, emails, and articles.
You'll write clearly for different purposes, such as completing forms, writing emails, and producing short documents.
You'll develop your speaking and listening skills for everyday situations and the workplace.
You'll identify the main points and details in texts you read.
You'll use grammar, punctuation, and spelling accurately in your writing.
You'll follow and contribute to discussions, asking and answering questions clearly.
How you will learn
You'll learn in a classroom at Ashley School 6th Form, with a mix of taught sessions, group work, and individual tasks. Assessment is through two externally set and marked tests: a reading test and a writing test. There is also a speaking, listening, and communication component, which is assessed by your centre. All assessments are set by Pearson Edexcel.
