Free Functional Skills English Level 1 in Catterick Garrison. Classes run at Catterick Library & Information Centre, part-time during the day, over 18 weeks. The course covers reading, writing, and communication at Level 1, building the English skills employers ask for. To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact
What you will learn
You'll read and understand different types of texts, including workplace documents and everyday materials.
You'll write clearly for different purposes, such as letters, emails, and forms.
You'll use grammar, punctuation, and spelling accurately at Level 1.
You'll listen and respond to spoken information in everyday and work-related situations.
You'll take part in discussions and communicate information clearly to others.
How you will learn
You'll learn in a classroom at Catterick Library & Information Centre, with a mix of group work, guided tasks, and individual practice. Assessment is through a reading exam, a writing exam, and a speaking and listening assessment. All three components must be passed to achieve the full qualification.
