Should your attendance fall below this, your place on the course may be at risk. This is an academic course, and you must allow time for private study at home of at least 2 hours per week.

What you will learn

  • You'll write simple sentences using basic punctuation and grammar.
  • You'll identify the spelling of common everyday words.
  • You'll listen for key details in spoken English.
  • You'll use simple English words and phrases to ask and answer questions.
  • You'll practise speaking clearly in everyday situations.
  • You'll build confidence responding in pair and group conversations.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom activities including individual tasks, pair exercises, and group work. You'll also complete regular homework and allow at least two hours a week for private study at home. Assessment includes a speaking and listening exam and a writing exam, both set by Trinity College London. You'll need to attend at least 90% of your classes to keep your place on the course.

You'll need a ring binder, lined paper, pens and pencils, and access to a computer or laptop with a printer. Sunbury Adult Learning Centre will confirm anything else you need before you start.
