Free Entry Level Functional Skills English Course in Enfield. Classes run at First Rung Ponders End Centre, part-time during the day, making it manageable alongside other commitments. You'll work on three core areas: Reading, Writing, and Speaking and Listening. The course runs for 70 hours in total. It's a recognised entry level functional skills english qualification and a stepping stone toward Level 1 and Level 2 English, which is the GCSE English equivalent. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm Entry Level 3 is the right starting point for you.

Who this course is for

You will learn and put into practise English language skills which will enable you to work and communicate confidently, effectively and independently and ensure you have the skills you need for employment and education.

Our trainers will support the development of your English skills enabling you to gain the most out of your work, education and everyday life.

During the course you will focus on three areas; Reading, Writing and Speaking & Listening.

You will attend weekly classroom based workshops where you trainer will support you to prepare for a end of course assessment.

What you will learn

  • You'll read and understand everyday texts, including signs, forms, and short documents.
  • You'll write clearly for practical purposes such as messages, notes, and simple forms.
  • You'll listen carefully and respond in conversations and group discussions.
  • You'll speak clearly enough to be understood in familiar situations.
  • You'll use punctuation, spelling, and grammar at Entry Level 3 standard.
  • You'll build the English skills needed for work, further study, and daily life.

How you will learn

You'll attend weekly classroom sessions at First Rung Ponders End Centre. Learning covers Reading, Writing, and Speaking and Listening. Assessment is through tasks and activities in each of these three areas. You'll be assessed on your ability to read and understand texts, produce written work, and communicate verbally. Your trainer will support you throughout and help you prepare for the assessments.
