About this course

Free Entry Level ESOL Skills for Life (speaking and listening) Course in Hackney. Classes run at ELATT Shoreditch, with daytime sessions that fit around other commitments. You'll develop your spoken English and listening skills for everyday situations, including daily life, shopping, transport, local services, and health. The course also builds teamwork and employability skills. You'll start with an initial assessment to confirm Entry Level 2 is the right starting point for you. The course runs over 24 weeks part-time.

Who this course is for

This course covers a variety of subjects including: daily life, shopping, transport, local services and health, speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Participants will develop their employability skills and their ability to work in a team and on their own initiative. On completion they can progress on to ESOL Level 3 or employment

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements: Complete an Initial Assessment with ELATT or a recognised referral partner.

What you will learn

  • You'll practise speaking English in everyday situations such as shopping, using transport, and accessing local services.
  • You'll develop your listening skills to understand spoken English in familiar contexts.
  • You'll build vocabulary and language for health, community life, and daily routines.
  • You'll learn to communicate in a team and use your own initiative.
  • You'll develop employability skills to help you in the workplace.
  • You'll gain confidence taking part in conversations and responding to questions.

How you will learn

Classes are classroom-based and part-time, running during the day. You'll learn through speaking and listening activities, group work, and guided practice. Assessment is either an internal assessment (RARPA) or an in-person external exam at a centre. External exams are not available online. ELATT Shoreditch will confirm which assessment route applies to you.

The centre will provide most materials. ELATT Shoreditch will confirm anything else you need before you start.
