Free Entry Level Employability Course in Nottingham. Classes run at Nethergate Academy, full-time during the day.

The course helps you build the skills needed to move toward employment. You'll explore what employers look for, how to present yourself, and how to manage everyday workplace situations. Students are initially assessed at working towards Entry Level 2 to make sure the course is the right fit. The course runs over two years.

You'll finish with an Award in Employability at Entry Level 2.

Who this course is for

The ASDAN Entry Level Award in Employability (Entry 2) is designed to help learners develop the skills needed to become successful employees. The primary purpose of this qualification is to support them in overcoming barriers to entering work.

The Entry 2 qualification is intended for young people and adults who are not yet ready for employment but for whom a job is a realistic aim within a reasonable timescale.

This course is offered to students following a post 16 study programme at Nethergate, following an employability pathway.

Units include those related to exploring job opportunities, health and safety in the workplace and participation in work experience placements.

Entry requirements

All students enrolled on this course are following a post-16 pathway at Nethergate and have an EHCP.

No specific entry requirements but students will be initially assessed at working towards Entry Level 2.

What you will learn

  • You'll identify your own skills and strengths relevant to work.
  • You'll practise communicating clearly with others in a workplace context.
  • You'll learn how to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • You'll explore how to manage your time and meet basic responsibilities.
  • You'll develop strategies for overcoming personal barriers to employment.
  • You'll prepare simple job-related documents such as a personal profile.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom activities, group work, and practical tasks. Assessment is portfolio-based. You'll collect evidence of your skills and achievements over the course. Your tutor will support you throughout and help you build your portfolio at a pace that suits you.

The centre will provide most materials. Nethergate Academy will confirm anything else you need before you start.
