Free Entry Level 3 English Skills course in Northallerton. Classes run at Richmond Adult Learning and Skills Service, part-time during the day, so you can fit study around other commitments. You'll build your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills over 55 hours, working toward a qualification without sitting a traditional exam. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm Entry Level 3 English Skills is the right level for you. The course is open to adults aged 19 and over who do not already hold an Entry Level 3 or higher English qualification.
Who this course is for
This course is for people who want to improve their English skills gain a qualification in English without having to take an exam.You must not have a current Entry 3 level or higher qualification.
Entry requirements
To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment
What you will learn
You'll read and understand everyday texts, including letters, forms, and short articles.
You'll write clearly for common purposes such as notes, messages, and simple documents.
You'll spell and punctuate accurately at Entry Level 3.
You'll listen and respond to spoken information in everyday situations.
You'll speak clearly and take part in straightforward conversations.
You'll use grammar correctly in written and spoken English.
How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom-based sessions at Richmond Adult Learning and Skills Service. Learning is assessed through portfolio work and tasks rather than a traditional exam, so you demonstrate your skills through practical written and spoken activities completed during the course. Your tutor will guide you through each area of English and give feedback as you progress.
