Free Entry Level 1 Functional Skills English Course in Bournemouth. Classes run at Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre on Wednesday mornings, part-time over 34 weeks. The sessions are small and friendly, with time to work at your own pace. You will build your reading, writing, and communication skills. This free functional skills english course for adults covers the skills employers and colleges look for in everyday English. You will sit an assessment at the end.

Who this course is for

This course is for you if

You want to gain an English qualification at Functional Skills Entry Level�3.; You want to attend a small, friendly class and work at your own pace and level; You want to improve your communication, reading and writing skills for employment and/or personal reasons; You are able to attend every week and complete home study tasks between sessions; You have a reasonably good level of ICT skills and access to a computer and the internet.

You need to be working at Entry Level 3 or above in English to attend this course. Ideally you should be able to show that you have already achieved qualifications at pre-Entry Level 3 in English.

�IMPORTANT - On this course it is essential that you attend regularly and complete any homework given. Exam entry is dependent upon full attendance and successful completion of practice papers.

Please note that applications can�only be considered from residents living in Dorset and neighbouring counties of Devon, Hampshire, Somerset and Wiltshire.�

  • You'll write clearly for everyday purposes such as forms and messages.
  • You'll practise speaking and listening in everyday situations.
  • You'll develop your understanding of spelling, punctuation, and grammar at Entry Level 1.
  • You'll build skills useful for work, further study, and daily life.

How you will learn

You will attend weekly classroom sessions at Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre. Classes run on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 to 11:30. You will also complete home study tasks between sessions, so access to a computer and the internet is needed. Assessment is through tasks and a formal test set by City and Guilds. You will have an initial assessment at the start to confirm Entry Level 1 is the right level for you.

The centre will confirm anything you need before you start. You will need access to a computer and the internet for home study tasks between sessions. Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre will let you know about any other materials.
