Free Entry Level 1 Functional Skills English in Ilkeston. Classes run at Derby College Ilkeston Campus, part-time during the day.

The course runs over 35 weeks. You'll work on reading, writing, and communication at Entry Level 1. Topics include understanding simple texts, writing basic documents, and taking part in everyday conversations. Classes are relaxed and friendly. The pace is manageable alongside other commitments.

There are no formal entry requirements. You'll attend an assessment session first, so the college can find the right level for you. You'll finish with a Functional Skills Qualification in English at Entry Level 1.

Our flexible adult classes are designed around your needs. Courses start in September and January and we have evening and school-hours classes delivered at our campuses and in community venues across Derby and Derbyshire. Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to access this course and we have a variety of levels on offer to suit everyone.All applicants will be invited to an interview and assessment session. Please allow up to 90 minutes for your assessment: it will give us an indication of your current level and learning needs. Once this is complete, we will discuss the most appropriate level of course for you.

You'll learn in a classroom at Derby College Ilkeston Campus. Classes are part-time and run during the day. Your tutor will guide you through reading, writing, and communication tasks. You'll practise skills through activities and exercises in class. Assessment is through tasks set by Pearson Edexcel, completed during the course.
