About this course

Free CELTA Level 5 TEFL Course in Hammersmith and Fulham. Classes run at Hammersmith and Fulham College on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, plus Saturdays.

Evening CELTA TEFL classes let you study without giving up your day job. The course covers language teaching skills, lesson planning, and classroom practice. You also complete observed teaching practice with real ESOL learners. It runs over one year part-time.

You'll finish with a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at Level 5.

Adults (19+)

Entry requirements

You will need to:

  • be at least 18 years old- it is generally recommended that candidates should be aged 20 or over, but candidates aged between 18 and 20 can be accepted at our discretion
  • have an awareness of language and a competence in both written and spoken English which will enable you to undertake the course and prepare for teaching a range of levels - the recommended candidate language level is C2 or C1+ on the CEFR

How you will learn

You learn through classroom sessions, taught input, and observed teaching practice. You teach real ESOL learners and receive written feedback from a tutor. You also complete written assignments that develop your understanding of language and teaching. Assessment is ongoing throughout the course, combining practical teaching and written work.

You'll need a suitable computer or laptop and a stable broadband connection for any online elements. Hammersmith and Fulham College will confirm anything else you need before you start.
