About this course

CCN1 Gas Safety Course in Leicester. Classes run at Leicester College Freemen's Park Campus, daytime over one week. This is a packaged reassessment for gas safe registered installers whose CCN1, WAT1, CEN1, CKR1, or HTR1 certification is currently active or expired within the last 12 months. Renewing your ACS assessment every five years is a mandatory requirement to maintain your Gas Safe registration. The course runs at full cost. No fee remission or Advanced Learner Loan is available. Practical sessions and two theory papers cover the ccn1 gas safety qualification elements.

Who this course is for

This is mandatory training that needs to be renewed every five years to allow you to continue your gas safe registration. This is a packaged assessment for BPEC Gas Foundation completers who are working towards being certificated in any or all of the following: CCN1, WAT1, CEN1, CKR1, or HTR1. This route is for internal Leicester College students who have completed a BPEC gas foundation course at Leicester College.

This is a full cost course. There is no fee remission available and you cannot apply for an advanced learner loan to pay for your fees.

Entry requirements

You will need to have completed a BPEC Gas Foundation programme. Evidence of completion should be presented in portfolio with on-site evidence and in-College evidence combined to meet all mandatory requirements.

What you will learn

  • You'll complete practical assessments covering CCN1 core gas safety competencies.
  • You'll sit two theory papers covering gas safety knowledge and regulations.
  • You'll demonstrate competency in any applicable elements: WAT1, CEN1, CKR1, and HTR1.
  • You'll meet the mandatory ACS reassessment standard required for Gas Safe registration renewal.

How you will learn

The course combines practical sessions with two theory papers. You have the option of two days of retraining before a two to three day streamlined assessment. If you already hold accredited assessment results, these may be used toward the course and could reduce completion time to two days. Original certificates must be available for approval.

What you will need to bring

You must bring your original CCN1 and element certificates for approval. If your certificates have been mislaid, contact the ACS office before attending. Leicester College Freemen's Park Campus will confirm any additional requirements before you start.

Where next

Jobs you could do

  • Gas engineer: maintain your Gas Safe registration to keep working legally.
  • Domestic heating engineer: service and install boilers and heating systems.
  • Gas service technician: carry out gas appliance servicing and safety checks.
  • Self-employed gas installer: work independently on domestic or commercial gas work.

What you could study next

Once your Gas Safe registration is renewed, you could extend your scope by adding further ACS elements such as liquid petroleum gas (LPG) or commercial catering gas. These additional assessments open up a wider range of roles and job sites. Your next mandatory reassessment will be due five years from the date of this assessment.
