About this course

BTEC Level 3 Sports Coaching Course in Nottingham. Classes run at Notts County Football Club, full-time over two years. Students aged 16 to 18 years old do not pay tuition fees. If you are 19 or over, fees may apply, though funding may still be available.

This BTEC covers sports coaching, practical sport, fitness, anatomy and physiology, nutrition, psychology, and sports development. You will also complete work experience as part of your studies. Entry requires five GCSEs at grades A* to C (or equivalent), including English and Maths. Entry onto the course also includes a football trial at Notts County.

You will finish with a Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development.

This course is perfect if you enjoy sport and want to develop your skills and knowledge ready for a career in the sport, leisure or fitness industries.

To be considered for this course, you will have a football trial at Notts County and they will make the decision as to whether you are suitable.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 5 GCSEs at grades 9 - 4 (A* - C), including English Language and Maths - both of these must be grades 9 - 4 (A* - C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths. You can also gain a place by having a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification with English and Maths GCSE grades 9 - 4 (A* - C).

Entry onto the this course is also subject to a football trial at Notts County and they will decide whether you are suitable.

Unfortunately, this course is currently only available to male players.

How you will learn

You will learn through a mix of classroom lessons and practical sessions. Classroom lessons are held at the community venue on Clifton Lane, Nottingham. Practical sessions take place at Notts County Football Club. Assessment is through Pearson Edexcel BTEC coursework, assignments, and practical tasks. You will also complete work experience as part of the programme.
