The BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development is a Pearson Edexcel qualification. It runs for around 11 months. You'll study careers in sport and active leisure, health and wellbeing, and how to develop coaching skills. The course is designed to prepare you for work as an assistant coach, and it also supports progression to higher education.

To join, you'll need a GCSE grade 4 or above, or a Functional Skills Level 2 qualification, in both Maths and English. You'll finish with a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development.

Who this course is for

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development focuses primarily on progressing to employment as an assistant coach. It is intended for post-16 students who want to progress directly to employment, including self-employment, in sports coaching and development roles. It is also suitable for those wishing to progress to higher education, where students have the added advantage of using the qualification to help them obtain part-time employment while studying.

Entry requirements
