Free BTEC Level 3 Sports Coaching and Development Course in Northampton. Classes run at Northampton Town FC Community Trust, full-time during the day. You'll need five GCSEs at grades 9 to 4, including English Language and Maths, or Functional Skills Level 2 in both subjects. The course runs over two years and covers the knowledge and practical skills needed to coach and develop sport at a community level. You'll study the Pearson Edexcel level 3 btec sports coaching and development qualification, covering coaching methods, sports science, and development practice.

Entry requirements
You'll need 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), including English Language and Maths - both of these must be grades 9-4 (A*-C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths.
What you will learn
You'll develop coaching techniques and session planning skills for different sports and age groups.
You'll study the principles of sports science, including anatomy, physiology, and fitness.
You'll learn how to design and deliver coaching programmes for community sport.
You'll explore sports development, including how clubs and organisations grow participation.
You'll build skills in analysing performance and giving feedback to athletes.
You'll understand safeguarding, inclusion, and duty of care in a coaching environment.
How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom sessions, practical coaching activities, and project-based assignments. Assessment is through coursework, written assignments, and practical observations rather than traditional exams. You'll build a portfolio of evidence over the two years. Some units may include external assessments set by Pearson Edexcel. Classroom sessions take place during the day at the centre.
