About this course

BTEC Level 3 Sports Coaching and Development Course in Benfleet. Classes run at USP College Seevic Campus, full-time over two years. It's free for learners aged 16 to 18 years old. If you're 19 or over, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available.

This Level 3 BTEC sports coaching and development qualification covers coaching skills, sports development, and health and wellbeing. You'll also study careers in the sport and active leisure industry, self-employment in sport, and how to organise events. The course is practical and includes experience as an assistant coach.

You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development.

Who this course is for

This qualification is intended for post-16 learners wanting to progress directly to self-employment in the coaching and sports development sector as a coach/teacher. It enables learners to develop underpinning knowledge and technical skills, and the ability to use their knowledge and skills to positively impact sports development programmes, as well as gain experience as an assistant coach.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language or Maths.

or

A Level 2 BTEC Diploma in a related subject and grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language or Maths.

All assessment for this qualification is internal. You'll be assessed through a variety of methods across your units. Classes are classroom based and full-time during the day. The course is practical in nature, and you'll have opportunities to lead and volunteer across a range of sports and activities.
