Free BTEC Level 2 Information and Creative Technology Course in Liverpool. Classes run full-time at The City of Liverpool College Arts Centre, five days a week during the day. The course takes one year to complete. You'll cover topics including the online world, mobile app development, computer networks, digital portfolios, and computer security. Applicants should preferably have a grade 4 in maths or English, though both subjects can be studied alongside this course. The course is open to learners aged 19 and over.

What does it cover? Modules: The Online World & Technology Systems Digital Portfolio Installing and Maintaining Computer Software Mobile App Development Automated Computer Systems Computer Security in Practice Computer Networks You will research the online world and technology systems, design and create a mobile app, learn about networking and creating your own network, install hardware into computers as part of your assignment and learn how this can be maintained. Finally, you will learn the importance of computer security and apply your knowledge in securing machines in our computer hardware room. How is it assessed? You will be internally assessed through assignments set and marked by your teachers. Work will be graded at a Pass, Merit or Distinction. Two externally assessed exams at the end of the year.
Entry requirements
Open to learners aged 19 and over. Applicants should preferably have either a grade 4 in maths or English however these can be studied alongside the course.

You'll learn through a mix of classroom sessions and hands-on practical assignments. Assessment is assignment-based throughout the course. You'll complete tasks such as installing hardware, designing apps, and building networks, with your work assessed as you go. There are no written exams. Your digital portfolio forms part of your assessed work.
