About this course

Access to HE Engineering Course in Leicester. Classes run at Leicester College Abbey Park Campus, two days a week, full-time over one year. This level 3 access to HE engineering course is designed for adults aged 19 or over who want a route into university without traditional entry qualifications. It is recognised by the Quality Assurance Agency and accepted as a standard entry requirement by the vast majority of UK universities. You'll study mathematics, mechanical science, and electrical and electronics science, alongside study skills to prepare you for degree-level work.

Who this course is for

This course is designed for 19+ learners who for a range of reasons would not normally qualify for Higher National Diploma (HND) or degree entry. It offers an alternative route to Higher Education. Successful completion of the Access to HE programme will allow entry to most university degree courses at year 1, in Engineering and related fields.

All students will undertake an induction period for the first six weeks of their programme. During this time, attendance, attitude, attainment, and application towards study will be monitored.

If you are 16-19 years old these activities will be timetabled as will work experience and placement. You can also choose to take part in other activities. For other age groups, activities will be tailored to your needs.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions and practical work in modern laboratories, attending two days a week. The programme covers 60 credits at Level 3, made up of graded and ungraded units.
