About this course

Foundation Degree in Working with Children and Young People in Slough. Classes run at Slough and Langley College, full-time during the day. The course runs over 36 weeks. It is designed for people already working with children and young people aged 0 to 25, across settings such as children's centres, schools, health and social care, and local authority services. You will need a relevant Level 3 qualification, at least two years of relevant experience, and current employment in an appropriate setting for a minimum of two days a week. You will also need a mentor and the support of your school or setting. The foundation degree in working with children and young people qualification deepens your knowledge while you stay in your current role.

Who this course is for

This course is for anyone who works with children and young people from 0 - 25 years (working in Children’s Centres, Secondary school support staff, Extended schools, Health & Social Care and Local Authority Practitioners and Advisory staff) and wants to improve their skills and knowledge whilst staying in their current job. Foundation Degrees (FdA) are particularly appropriate for students considering returning to learning after a break or those who have not gained their qualifications through the traditional school-based route. The course does not qualify you to teach (QTS), or confer the title of Early Years Professional, but is a ‘stepping-stone’ towards this status. This Foundation Degree is validated by the University of West London.
